Press TV – Brazil claims soccer bronze in Olympics.

Brazil has snatched the bronze medal in the men’s soccer tournament at the Beijing Games after defeating Belgium 3-0 at Shanghai Stadium.

The first goal came in the 27th minute, when a cross from Rafinha was knocked into the back of the net by Diego Ribas da Cunha, a midfielder who plays for the German team Werder Bremen.

Brazil’s striker Jo strengthened the lead just before halftime, heading the ball past the Belgium goalkeeper.

Belgium was on the attack in the second half, and created a number of chances. However, a second goal from Jo in the dying seconds of the match sealed the 3-0 victory for Brazil.

Brazil won silver at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, and a bronze medal at Atlanta in 1996.

Argentina, who thrashed Brazil 3-0 on Tuesday, will face Nigeria in the final at the National Stadium on Saturday to decide which team takes home gold.
