Iranian filmmaker, Khosrow Sinai

Veteran Iranian filmmaker Khosrow Sinai is awarded Poland’s Order of Merit medal bestowed upon him by President Lech Kaczynski.

Sinai was honored for his 1982 documentary ‘The Lost Requiem‘, along with five Iranian citizens of Polish descent, Fatemeh Fazelishahir, Maria Bajdan, Fatemeh Wandeh Vashi, Eleonora Barska and Helena Stelmach, who were awarded the Siberian Cross.

The Lost Requiem is the story of hundreds of thousands of Poles, who arrived in Iran after being released from Siberia’s Soviet labor camps in 1942.

Sinai is known for his internationally-acclaimed documentaries such as On the Borderline, Diaries of a Journey, A journey to the History and The Old Metropolis.

Poland’s medal of the Order of Merit is a five-armed red and white cross emblazoned with a Polish eagle and suspended from a dark blue ribbon.
