Iran have come up with a strong performance under the post to beat Taiwan 76-64 in a quarterfinalsd.jpg match of the FIBA Asian championship. The 24th FIBA Asia Championship for Men is underway in Tokushima, Japan to recognize top teams for 2008 Beijing Olympic.Mohammad Nikkah and Hamed Hadadi stood tall, literally, as Iran kept things under their control throughout. Nikkah scored 22 points for the team but it was Hadadi who made that crucial difference between the teams. His 16 rebounds – 10 when defending – were proved to be valuable as the 17 points he contributed to.“We knew we were taller. We knew we were stronger under the basket. And we used it to the fullest extent,” said Iran’s Coach Toroman Rajko.Taipei who ran into a tall wall of defense fell short in perimeter attempts, with Iran’s rebound collection completely constraining the second shots.

With Javad Davari and Mahdi Kamrani proving sharp and speedy in their turnovers, Iran’s victory was secured. Davari’s impressive shooting was an added bonus. “The key was in stopping their fast breaks, and our tall players were brilliant in their rebounds,” said Davari.erere.jpg

“It wasn’t that easy for our players against their height,” said Taiwan Coach Chung Kwak-Sung. “We just hoped we could leave this behind,” he added.
